I didn’t notice that you could rate things until I saw it in the activity. When people give a lesson a thumbs up or down, what’s is their reason?

By coupling the rating into the discussion I think you’ll get more valuable discussions.

Do you think Rate this would be better mocked up in the image above?

Great suggestion, definitely something we should consider.

At the moment, when you rate a piece of user content, it not only allows other readers know how well regarded the lesson is by other users, but also effects the teachers authority rating. Rating it thumbs up will increase their authority just a little, while rating it thumbs down will decrease their authority.

I like the rating, because I like to express, but writing sometimes takes me too long … or I am not sure about the sense of my (English :)) sentences … :) So (pure) rating is (also) good for participating even with language barriers! (Is this an dis/agreement?? I take “I Agree” ...)

I would to like to be able to add comments to my evaluations, too.

I disagree with your disagree. Mainly because it has nothing to do with this debate. Where’s a delete button when you need one?

@Tatjana

You make a very good point about language barriers. However without it couple to a written comment there is no way to validate why they gave the rating. If english isn’t your strongest language you can always post in your own. I don’t have a problem using a translator.

Nellie, you can add “comments” to the bottom of any lesson page, video, presentation. You can expand on your rating there. It works exactly like a discussion :)

Thank you, Andrew! Für dein Angebot :)) Ich werde es nutzen! Which translator, I guess a pc-tool, do you recommend? My babelfish produces babel-sense often … And how did you and Adam create this wonderful quotation-style?

Information about how the lesson is presented is not appropriate to be in the lesson. I believe that detracts from the lesson, and is a BIG problem on LearnHub. It would be like a discussion in class that one student doesn’t think is effective. Is it appropriate for the student to raise their hand in the middle of a discussion and say…

“you know I think this class would have been more effective if you had used more visuals”...

It takes away and distracts from the lesson and the usefulness of the discussion. This is my main frustration trying to keep people focused and on topic. I believe there are things that could be added to the interface that would help alleviate part of this issue. But, you have to agree it’s an issue that needs to be handled. Do you?

I was going through a test in GMAT preparation and I could find option only for rating the test but not for commenting on the flaws. Will it not be better if we are allowed to comment on the contents of the tests and lessons etc alongwith rating them?

i subscribe to the view that comments should also be allowed along with the ratings to questions, tests, lessons etc. so that the persons who created them would be more vigilant and motivated with their future creations.

Great suggestion… there are comment fields below Lessons and Trivia Questions.

Would you see the rate comment being sent directly to the creators e-mail address or found within their personal workspace?
