Greetings, As a new member to this space, I am very impressed but the amount of work you guys have managed to add. Although I am totally busy, I can’t refuse a innovative idea. I would like to see this learning environment take over what is out there. I currently use Moodle, ning social blogs, wikis, and WebQuests. I would be interested in having everything under one roof. My face-to-face students find it difficult to commute back and forth among the learning spaces I provide.

Glad you like what you see so far! We’ve benchmarked the other platforms you mentioned, particularly Ning & Moodle as they relate to online education, and figure we have an opportunity to incorporate their best ideas with some novel ones of our own.

I would be happy to share some of our roadmap for the next few months, but first, what do you think the platform needs most to help you get everything under this roof?

    Hi John and Nellie,

firstly i endorse Nellie’s comments. For me ning is the best learning network that i have worked with, thus far. You seem to have everything setup to match and exceed that so let’s hope you do. I have mentioned these points in the suggestions postings i think

A few things that i like on ning and would be disappointed if not repeated at learnhub are

RSS feeds in and out Easy connection to youtube videos, other video and audio files. Email notifications of activities that are going on

I hope to start uploading and working more within the community next week – so hopefully more ideas and suggestions will flow soon

Glad you feel that way Nellie and Steve!

RSS feeds are on the short term road map… be here soon. YouTube integration coming too. :) Both of these should change the way people use the network significantly.

Like Nellie, I’m concerned about the large number of systems online now and wonder how to create a dynamic face-face plus online learning space that isn’t too much for me or my students to use.

I love using Ning (as a user) but find it tricky to navigate when I’m setting one up myself for students and colleagues (who are even less Web2.0 savvy than I am!). I wonder if there isn’t a simplified version (or ability to create a simple version) that I can use and then start adding more as I go? Many of my students have low-level literacy and digital literacy skills which means that Ning’s interface and appearance can be quite overwhelming.

Is there also a way of integrating Diigo usefully here as it seems to have such a wonderful way for us to highlight text in articles – or is that all too much to deal with for readers?

Do you think a wiki added to Ning makes it easier for resources, file uploads, lesson plans, links etc to be collected in one place – or is there a better alternative?

Many questions, I know. Food for thought though!
