ray optics (Question)

raghav sood saidMon, 28 Sep 2009 15:10:16 -0000 ( Link )

Will an object placed in an optically denser medium appear to be raised if veiwed ‘normally’ from an optically rearer medium ? How does apparent shift in position depend on angle of veiwing ?

It appears raised due to bending of rays. This bending depends on the angle of incidence of rays and hence the angle of viewing

if rays pass from denser to rarer medium it bends away from normal and from rarer to denser it bends towards normal therefore if u view normally u find it to be shifted upwards so i think u might have understood
