Tutoring (Discussion)

I added a tutoring offering and I was wondering if you had a suggested platform for audio+video tutoring? I looked in LearnHub support, but I didn’t see anything about tutoring or suggestions regarding tutoring. Anything you can point me to would be helpful. I have a MacBook Pro that comes with the built in web camera and microphone.

You are set having a MacBook Pro! All you need to do is choose your USB built in settings once your in a session and you’ll be transmitting a audio/video signal to the other session users.

You can also use a variety of video inputs for tutoring including any USB video device such as your webcam, a digital video (DV) using a firewire signal, as well as any built in webcams.

As for audio, any built in microphone, microphone using your sound card jack (pink slot), or DV audio signal—firewire again, will work as well.

At home I connect my Canon XL2 through my firewire port and start up a session. It works GREAT! Amazing quality. Though having a DV camera such as the XL2 isn’t a commonly accessible piece of hardware.

Ummm, lechuck? Are all of the above configurations assuming a high speed connection?

You don’t NEED a high speed connection, but it is certainly recommended. A lower speed connection won’t have very high frame rate considering video (5-10fps) when the normal is around 15-20. Possibility you would have small audio cut outs and a reduced audio quality.
