The Private Beta process is going to be a small group of people. A family even. Let’s get to know each other a little. So say hello and post a little about yourself.
This is after all a social e-learning website!
Hi, i am Peter, friend of Norm and John, crazy principal of a comprehensive school at Germany, somewhat computer-literate, very interested in everything that has to do with learning and teaching and i love to take pictures, mostly landscapes, social situations, portraits, no studio so far, no sports photography, no wildlife photography.

I can vouch for the ‘crazy’ part. (And he does take nice pictures.)
Hi, I may not be family or even a friend as far as long term relationships go, but I feel like I am among family members and friends. I am passionate about learning. I have been teaching English as a foreign language to mainly high school speakers of Hebrew in Israel for the past 30 odd years. I am also a PAIRS and Reiki practitioner and a doctoral student of educational leadership specializing in curriculum and instruction at the University of Phoenix online. I was raised in Toronto. My family still (parents, aunts, uncles, cousins, sister) lives in Toronto. My husband and I have 2 daughters (22 and 26) and a son (24). My oldest daughter is a triathlete (swimming, cycling, running) and sports scientist with a successful sports science coaching business in Victoria, BC. My husband is a retired airforce guy who works for a hi tech company and travels more than he desires. We are somewhat of an art family. My father and my two daughters draw and create art. I studied art in Northview Heights (North York). I would like to know more about those participating in the beta run and their motives for doing so.

Hi Nelliemuller My name is Norm Green I have been involved in education for over 30 years. I have a wife of 33 years, Kathy, and children Drew, John, Katie, and their wives and partners Gosia, Andrea, David. We are a modern family spread all over North America. As I mentioned I have been involved in education as a teacher, principal, Director of Staff Development for a large school district, Director of Learning and Teaching at Georgian College and now an Adjunct Professor at Niagara University in Upstate New York.
My interest in this beta is motivated by the fact that my son John and his wife Gosia have developed this platform to help people learn.
Kathy and I have had a pressing need to support the training we do in Germany Scotland and Italy. Over the past 10 years we have have been providing professional development training in the area of cooperative learning and active learning for educators (Grundschule to Gymnasium and for University Professors at Hamburg University) with the financial backing of Ministries of Education and large German Foundations . (http://www.kooperatives-lernen.de ) Our work there has been greatly appreciated and has lead to many interesting educational developments. In our training we provide 3 intensive days of training followed some months later with a 2 day follow-up. This in turn is followed up with an opportunity for a Level 2 programme that extends understanding and practice. ...kind of like polishing the stone. Our frustration has been in trying to find ways to keep our learning community together between trainings and to support those who come to our training and have some challenges (yes we do worry about the implementation dip). We hope to use learnhub as a tool to introduce participants, who have signed up for our training, with some theory and practical activities they might try before coming to training. Experience is the great teacher and if they have a experiential base before the face to face training, then we start at a higher level …with lots of questions and we hope some successes to share. After the training we want to provide a step by step process for implementation that can guide very busy teachers and principals as they apply what they have learned.Crucial to all this will be the platform…learnhub that we create to allow them to share their successes and challenges with the community of learners who are involved in the same process. Good teachers working with good teachers become better teachers is our hope.
So we have high expectations and hi hopes
My name is Christopher Jones. I’m a friend of Lechuck, “your friendly neighbourhood spider-admin”.
Anyhow enough joking around. I’m a PHP/Mysql Database Developer (nothing quite as nice as working with Ruby on Rails, from what I’ve seen, but I’m getting there.)
I love technology and find any excuse to be creative with it. I'll do my best to help LearnHub get through it's infancy. Look like a good project and should be quite successful.
My other interests are graphic design, music, and langugages.
I’m Andrew William Charles Brown. I’m from the town of Thunder Bay from North Western Ontario Canada. I’m a passionate learner and going to be a recent graduate of a Multimedia program. I’m here to assist anyone in learning any technology.

Hi Norm, I am sorry about the delay in reading your response. I guess a feature should be added to learnhub to let members know when a response has been added. Thank you for sharing your teaching/learning experiences. I loved your statement that Good teachers working with good teachers become better teachers is our hope. I am glad you and your family decided to give birth to learnhub.
Warm wishes, Nellie Deutsch
I´m Tatjana Miriam Hasse, licenced to teach german, art and history in Baden-Württemberg´s Realschulen (in all over Germany after Grundschule/primary children are sent to Gymnasium, Realschule or Hauptschule – we just discuss violently the sense of this separation in the media, after PISA, towards brain- and psychological research) (there are only a few Gesamtschulen/comprehensive schools, which make a difference, like Peter manages one). I am also licenced as a systemische Familientherapeutin and Supervisorin, by the Heidelberger Group around Helm Stierlin (Fritz B. Simon et al). My interest is how to transfer these so called systemical ideas of interaction, ressources and of differences, that make differences … to school … to my teaching students. So I developed a model for art lessons “SchülerInnen als KünstlerInnen im Kunstunterricht” (students as artists in artlessons), which I love to practice every day anew and which I would like to spread. In 2004 I came to know Norm and Kathy Green in their cooperative learning academy in Heidelberg´s comprehensive school (IGH, Bernhard Gantner). Since then I love to learn more and more about cooperative learning! My new powerful `instrument´ to link my interests with my/the reality … I´m glad to be here on learnhub, joining others like good old (young ;-)) friends!
Glad to be invited to join this illustrious team.
My name is David Bowman and I am working on a fourth successful startup.
My diverse background as a serial entreprenrur has been in some very diverse fields of digital music on demand, visual browsing of 3d real estae, broadband optical wireless field trials and most recently in using online collaborative computing in a global holstic healing venture.
This last one is sometimes called Web 2.0 or rethinking medicine which includes emphasis on building on existing social networks for eliciting positive change in our fragile some would say fatally flawed medical systems around the world.
I am a student and a teacher so will be leaning on some of you for advice over the enxt few weeks so please allow in to share your passion for education asit is tyruly shared!
Namaste
I so enjoy my new found friends here
Sincerely yours David
Hi There, what a diverse group we have here. So nice and welcoming too! I am a freelance writer and professional organizer in BC Canada. I took early retirement from a job as a JP in the court system and have been writing full time since then.
I just got high speed and am feeling like I died and ended up in Internet heaven. I can now do so many more things online that I used to have to forgo because of my very slow dialup. Now I am making up for lost time and hope to learn more from all of you here, right now I am just learning to set up my wordpress blog. :)
Hi, I am Dr.Ramakrishnan serving in a college in South India. I teach English. I am interested in e-materialising my dream of Online University to make available globally a living culture about which I have been researching over forty years. I have jumpstarted to and with MAW and am fast getting infected with LearnHub virtuous opportunities of virtual learning-teaching phenomena.
Rare Sanskrit resources are my Life Energy Feeds.
Why not develop a glossary of new terms coined by LH family members? Let me give mine. IDENSITY – it means identity with a different density when one has reached the NEZ/no erroneous zones/ and expeirences profound sense of I which is one with humanity, the Nature and Beyond .
I’m Dr.Ramakrishnan found liberated into the online teaching-learning space. I am sure that health is not a matter of fanciful norms. A doctor knows any day better than us about our health requirements. I have found a free website run by doctors who help us assess our heath concern and healthy attitudes:
www.RealAge.com
The extensive online test provided is interesting and enhances health esteem. How would LearnHub present such self-help opportunities here?

Hi there, I am a primary school teacher looking to set up an online community for my class next year. Can you make a community private so that it is safe for my students?
Hi there, I am a primary school teacher looking to set up an online community for my class next year. Can you make a community private so that it is safe for my students?
At the moment, Communities a private environment. Though this is a feature we plan to add.
For now, I suggest creating a course which is can be private. You may invite your students to it via their e-mail address.
Hi! I am (Mrs.) Chris Babowal. I have been viewing this site and am very excited to see all the different people who are involved. I create English tests, so my interest is slightly different than others, but I think that courses offered on this learning network compliment my testing. I have a certificate to teach English-as-a-Second- Language from San Jose State University, I held a California teacher’s and supervisor certificate for years and was trained by the University of Oxford for about 4 years (1991-1995) to develop ARELS, Association of Recognised English Language Schools) tests and to run the test board for these tests.
The emphasis of the ARELS tests are practical exercises of listening and speaking using authentic materials as often as possible. The tests are semi-direct (recorded in advanced) and graded by trained English professionals or by machine when possible. We also provide certificate programs, such as the International Business English program on the Meaningful English and English for Work site- check it out. I hope this site will allow me to try out new things.
My other interests are nature, reading, knitting, crafts, travel, my family, family education, culture and languages.
I would like to see more development of question types for testing, such as cloze (fill-in the blank) and writing samples, and reading comprehension. It would be wonderful to have the ability to record speech for learning and testing.
