You can’t currently import videos straight from YouTube though you can use online downloaders such as Convert Direct to download them to your desktop them upload them to LearnHub.

It seems as if – at the moment – the lesson editor uses textile, but filters html code or javascript code. That behaviour results in the impossibility to use html to create sophisticated layouts and the impossibility to embed e.g. youtube-videos via “embed” and “object”. As the preview of the lesson renders all those html codes quite well I wonder if this restrictive filtering is an inevitable necessity? So,: please try to get rid of this filtering behaviour.

I didn’t put tags for the first couple of communities I created, I think… but when I edit community I don’t see the opportunity to add or edit tags… Am I missing something?

...Okay… so maybe the communities don’t have tags… why don’t they? I think that would make them easier to find with the search feature…

I would like to invite people to join my WebQuest course but the course only appears in my workspace and nowhere else as far as I can see. I would also like to add to the curriculum but the only option is edit and there is nothing to edit since I haven’t been able to add anything. In addition, I invited a friend and got an email notification that she befriended me but I can’t find her. Finally, I would like to get notifications when someone adds to the discussions in my community.

Thank you, thank you, thank you.

    :)

My question relates to the textile editing option in creating a lesson page. I do not see that option. As it appears when I create a new page, I only see Rich Text Editor. Is this a temporary bug? Thanks :)

There is no bug, you have to choose the textile-editor or “pro-editor” in your workspace on your account-page. You will find the option to switch right on the main section. If you have any difficulties to find the option, have a look here.

I am still having difficulty uploading a video for a lesson – it keeps telling me there is an error (it’s a wmv file). LeChuck did say it would still work, but it’s not.

Also is it possible to upload audio?

I have things in both mp3 and saved with audio acrobat (which let’s me genrate html code) but can not find anywhere in a lesson to upload it.

Thirdly when I try and use the code i.e Lead Britain to Wellness it is not working in my lesson, it’s just showing the code.

Thanks for your help in advance. Alex

I don’t know whether I just didn’t see it but can someone explain a bit in more detail how the allocation of authority marks is managed? I created tests but in my community MannersAndCareer it doesn’t show up as if this would be the case. I also invited new users (outside of Learnhub) to join my community, also this results in zero. Does it only count if the person subscribes?

Furthermore, I have problems of seeing some of my most recent Lessons (created as pages) on my community website, I see them only on my profile page. Therefore, I think that my members wouldn’t even notice them. Can I do something about it? I noticed if I would create it as a PowerPoint Presentation it would show up.

    Thanks for some help.

I’m trying to post several new lessons and I’ve got a very strange input screen that doesn’t allow me to use the rich text editor. Nor can I access the publishing function to make them available to my course or other communities… Left a message for Adam. No reply… I need to get a couple of these working today. Anyone know what’s going on?

Adam is away at the moment, but he will be back Monday to address all of your concerns. As well, we are looking at the problem now and it should be fixed very shortly.

It looks like some stuff we added for the new question bank is royally messing up Internet Explorer. Aside from the fact that Internet Explorer is a horrible browser, this is totally not cool and I’m going to fix it as soon as possible. I apologize for the inconvenience everyone.

In the meantime I strongly urge people to upgrade to a modern, standards-friendly web browser here are some excellent choices:

In addition to being technologically superior to Internet Explorer, the above choices also offer enhanced performance, excellent features and are all totally free.

Once you publish something (page, video, presentation, test, etc.) to a community, you should give it about 5 to 10 minutes to allow the community to refresh and show the new content. This delay allows your content to be stored in the database and allows the community to load a lot faster for everybody.

If you’re looking for your lesson on the main community page, the lesson widget only lists the top 7 lessons published to that community. You will need to click the Lessons tab to see all the lessons :)

By the way, the delay also affects the activity feed on the homepage, profiles, and communities. It is updated once every 5 minutes as well.

    Hi Adam

'Fraid not. I've tried every combination of new lessons, new courses, avoided switching editors half way as you describe above.
Did I already mention that I logged in from different PCs in my house and when this didnt resolve it, then even drove to a friend's house and logged in from there.
In the end I've created a new user account under a different name, set the editor to textile and I can get the menu. I guess something has fouled up my original account settings .
It's a nuisance as I've created communities under my original account name and I'll have to try and transfer them to the new account.

    Ho hum

Ged, there is no formatting menu in the Textile editor, that is all HTML driven. The formatting menu is in the Rich Text Editor.

    Maybe that is the problem?

Is the suspended video issue still being worked on, or will we need to re-load videos to get them to work? I am still getting the message ‘this video has been suspended’ on a .flv video I uploaded 2-3 days ago.

Hmm. Any estimate on the video page fix? I tried loading an mp4 file, today, and I got the same ‘video suspended’ message. I’m getting a little anxious, because I’ll have students using the course in about a week, and I have some live video I was going to finish editing and load, too…

Hey guys, the video system will be working again on Tuesday (August 12th). Unfortunately if you’ve uploaded any videos or audio that turned out to be “Suspended” you will have to reload them.

So, please upload them on Tuesday and you’ll be roaring to go! I know I have a bunch of videos I want to upload!

Hello, I’m new to LearnHub, so I’m still learning the best ways to do some of the basics. I’m trying to put a link to a website in my community or in my course. However, the only place that seems amenable to this is the concepts link, but it only allows Wikipedia’s URL. What do you suggest? Thanks!

    Hi Lmbarnett,

    Welcome to LearnHub!

In regards to adding a link in your course and community, I’d suggest to incorporate the link to the web site within your lessons. Tag the name of the website with quotation marks (” “), followed by (:) and the direct URL. For instance, your link to an external site would read “web site name”: http://www (minus the spaces).

For more on linking to web sites, please see our Help Support Community, The Textile Pro Editor.

    Hope that helps!
