Help: Presentations

Presentation Lessons is a powerful online flash tool and the ideal way to share your slide shows with other LearnHub members. You can import any of your Microsoft PowerPoint presentations (or relating software) into the system where they are converted into the Flash format. Presentations stream fast and are extremely small in download size.

Uploading a Presentation:
Who can upload presentations?

The presentation feature is available for everyone. Upload and publicly publish your presentation to any community, or privately to your own course(s).

  • Presentations are ideal for educators who want to share their presentations to learners on the web.
How do I upload a presentation to LearnHub?
Creating a new presentation lesson only takes a few easy steps:
  • Sign in to LearnHub or Create an Account.
  • Click the “Start A Presentation Lesson” button found in your Workspaces’ Lesson tab.
  • Title and describe your presentation.
  • Click “Browse” and choose your PPT or PPS file from your desktop.
  • Select if you want to Publicly Share (Communities) and/or Privately Share (Courses) your presentation.
  • Choose “Yes” if you wish to Publish it.
  • Click the “Upload Presentation” button.
  • Once the presentation has been uploaded successfully, it will show in your Workspaces’ lesson listings.

What PowerPoint file format does LearnHub support?

You can upload PPT (PowerPoint Presentation) and PPS (PowerPoint Show) files only. You can use presentations from version ‘97 to the most current.

Do you support Office 08’s PPTX format?

At this time no. You can simply re save the presentation as a PPT.

Can my presentation be as big (file size) as I want?

Your presentation file cannot exceed 30MB. This allows you to add small videos, audio, and plenty of images and text to your presentation.

Why is my presentation taking so long to upload?

Your connection speed and the size of the presentation will effect how long it takes to upload your presentation to LearnHub. It may take as little as a minute or as long as an hour.

For example: If you have a high speed connection and you are uploading a 5MB presentation it should take an average of 2 to 5 minutes to completely upload.

My presentation has been uploading a lot longer than predicted, what should I do?

Cancel the upload. Be sure the file isn’t larger than 30MB and try again.

I’ve uploaded my presentation, but I am getting “the file you uploaded could not be processed” error, what happend?

Your presentation is in fact, fine. You will receive this message while the system is converting your presentation from the PPT or PPS file to the flash based system that LearnHub uses. This could take several minutes depending on how large your presentation is.

If the error persists after 10 minutes of uploading your file. Please report the issue to support@learnhub.com and staff will look into it right away.

Can I edit my presentation?

You can edit your presentation title, description, and shared communities/courses. You can not replace or edit the actual presentation once it is uploaded. You will need to create a completely new lesson.

Can I publish my presentation at a later time?

Of course. You can publish and un-publish your lesson any time.
In fact, I recommend waiting until you have fully tested your presentation lesson before publishing it to the public.

My presentations font looks different than the one found in my PPT or PPS file, why?

You may have used a rare or exotic font that is not recognized by the conversion system and was automatically replaced to a recognized one.

Presentation Privacy:
Should I lock my PowerPoint presentation before I upload it?

No. If you lock your PPT or PPS file the system will be unable to convert it and will produce an error. We understand your concern and have taken security measures. Once your presentation is uploaded to LearnHub, it be locked automatically from any future editing.

Viewing a Presentation:
The presentation is hard to read, can I view a presentation in full-screen?
Yes. At any time you can click the full-screen button during the presentation.

thanks for offering it, but when can we upload presentations in .pdf format or Open Document format (.odp)? :(

Hi Agari,

I found this earlier in the LearnHub Support community.

“Can I upload .PDFs to my lessons? Absolutely. To the left of the lesson editor, below the Photos uploader, you will find the Reference Material (PDF) uploader. From there you can attach any .pdf file to your lesson which is viewable through the browser. You can also allow users to download the .pdf if you choose.”

Hope this helps
