Communities 2.0 has some new features for Learnhub! The following lesson takes a look at these new features and helps you learn how to use them.
For a more basic understanding of how communities work, please see the Help: Communities lesson.
Community Leaders
You can now have multiple leaders for your community! This is beneficial in managing your community as well as inspiring participation.
How do I add multiple leaders to my community?
1. Go to your Community’s homepage.
2. Click on the Members tab to view a list of all members of that community.
3. Click on Promote to Leader beside the member you want to promote. In order to have this feature, you must already be a leader of that specific community.
4. If you ever wish to revoke that member’s leadership, follow the same steps as listed above. Revoke leadership will be an option available beside that member’s avatar.
Customized Layouts
Community homepages can now be customized with background images, frame colours and content arrangement. Edit your community and try it out!
How do I customize my community’s layout?
Click the
Edit link on the right-hand side of your community’s homepage.
In the Edit section, there will be three main tabs to choose from:
Profile,
Layout and
Design. From here, we will work in these 3 tabs to help you customize your community.
How do I update my community’s basic information?
From the
Profile tab, you can upload your community’s avatar as well as the community’s basic information (Name, Category and Description).
How do I rearrange my community layout?
In the
Layout tab, you can arrange the layout of the homepage content. In the “Community Home Layout” box, you simply drag the boxes to rearrange them. To remove a content box, drag it to the red-coloured box below.
How do I add a Featured Item or List?
You can also add content boxes to your homepage such as a “Featured Item” or a “Featured List”. Simply choose the content box you wish to add and click the
Add To Layout button.
How do I customize my community’s background image and frame colour?
In the
Design tab, you can upload a file from your computer or from the Internet to have as a background image for your entire Community. For example, the screenshot below shows flowers as the background image.
You can also pick a nifty frame colour for your community! Simply click on one of the available colours that you wish to use and save. Below the frame colour for the community is pink – this setting will apply to all pages in your community.
Other New Features
In addition to these new features, the release also has updated the following:
